Chakras: The 7 Wonders of Your World

Chakras: 7 Wonders of the World

Chakras Sanskrit for the word wheels. Chakras are the wheels of life.

The traditional healing system Ayurveda teaches that they are energy centres in the body which are connected to your organs, glands and nervous system and the non physical realms.

The chakras play a vital role in your physical, emotional and spiritual health and with connecting you with the cosmos.

There are considered be 108 chakras in and outside of the body according to ancient vedic texts of the upanishads, however I will discuss and focus on the 7 key chakras.

These 7 chakras run along your spine and each one plays a specific role in your physical and emotional well being and the flow of energy in your body.

Blockages or inbalances in any of the chakras can cause emotional and energetic problems which can lead to illness in the body.

Therefor, it is important to be aware of how chakras operate and what you can do to open them, in equilibrium and spinning with free flowing energy.

The 7 Wonders of your World

The chakras are located along the spine and they run from the bottom of the spine all the way to the top of your crown.

Each chakra has its own unique function and when the 7 chakras are spinning vibrantly energy is flowing easily through the body.

I will discuss each chakra’s function providing their Sanskrit name, colour and unique mantra / vibration which will be useful information if you wish to do the visualisation I describe at the end of the article.

Root Chakra

The root chakra, or Muladhara, is located at the base of the spine. The root chakra is responsible for grounding you to the physical and material world and gives you a sense of security.

Energy from the unmanifest and universe first flows through the root chakra therefore its important this chakra is active and healthy, described as being red in colour and the mantra is Laam.

Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra, or svadhisthana, is located just below the belly button. This chakra is related to your creative power and sexual energy, it also is where you relate emotions about yourself and others.

When this chakra is balanced you feel creative, empowered and emotionally centred. The colour orange is associated with the sacral chakra and the mantra Vaam.

Solar Plexus Chakra

The solar plexus chakra, or manipura is located in the stomach area. This chakra is responsible your personal confidence, self worth and ego.

A balanced manipura will enable you to feel in control of your life and give you the transforming power to be your authentic self and create what you desire without having to worry what others might think.

I believe Solar plexus imbalances is a challenge an individual must face if they are to be their true self. The colour yellow and the mantra Raam is related to this chakra.

Heart Chakra

The heart chakra, or Anahata is located in the centre of your chest and around the heart area. This chakra is all about connecting you with the vibration of love and to experience greater love and compassion for yourself and others.

The heart chakra is also responsible with helping you heal from grief such as losing a loved one. The heart chakra is also the bridge between the lower 3 chakras and the 3 higher chakras.

Incredible energy is radiated by the heart chakra. By having a open and vibrant heart chakra you are contributing to raising the earth’s vibrational frequency, all you need is love.

Green is the colour related to the heart chakra and the mantra Yaam, pronounced Yum.

Thoart Chakra

The throat chakra, or Vishuddha is located in your neck where the centre of your throat lies. This chakra is all about your self expression, communication and how you emote.

A unbalanced Vishuddha may either mean you can’t express yourself and that you keep quiet and repressed, or that you speak too much (or aggressively) and have challenges communicating with others in a effective way.

Transformation requires you to speak your truth and to express yourself and what you desire. To do this, balancing and activating your throat chakra is vital.

The colour blue and the mantra Haam or Hum are related to this chakra.

Third Eye Chakra

The third eye chakra, or Anja is located in the middle of your fore head and its role is to enhance your connection with the non physical realms.

This chakra also provides you with intuition and insight in the physical realm. Intuition, ESP or psychic power is enhanced by an activated and balanced third eye chakra.

The colour purple and the mantra Shaam are associated with this chakra.

Crown Chakra

The crown chakra, or Sahaswara is also known as the thousand petal lotus and is located in the crown of your head.

The crown chakra connects you with the cosmos, realities and dimensions outside the physical realm, to magical realms and locales.

This chakra enables you to connect with your expanded infinite self. This provides you with insight that transforms your creative power.
